Vas vocalist Azam Ali, Axiom of Choice's multi-instrumentalist Loga Ramin Torkian, have joined forces to create a globe-spanning sound that the trio calls "world music for the 21st century." Known collectively as Niyaz, the group's first eponymous release is an hypnotic, ecstatic, and eminently danceable album that represents the best of both traditional world and electronic music. On original band compositions Azam Ali sings the most beautiful texts of the urdu and sufi mystical poetry.

Two-time Grammy Award nominee, Carmen Rizzo adds his distinctive point of view to their groundbreaking blend. Rizzo has collaborated with a diverse range of artists, including Seal, Alanis Morisette, Khaled, le Cirque du Soleil and Paul Oakenfold. Working together, Carmen says, “We wanted something that was stylish and ultimately respectful of both ethnic and electronic music. Azam and Loga were coming from a more organic kind of artistry, while I was more in the headspace of modern-sounding records. We didn't want to alienate either dance or traditional world music listeners, but at the same time we wanted to create something fearless.”
